Opening game of the season for the boys' Varsity soccer team was on Thursday 8/21/14. With 29 minutes left in the 1st half, freshman Zach Gorby sent a corner kick into the box that senior Ante Dejanovic drilled into the back of the net for a 1 to 0 lead.With 19 minutes left in the 1st half junior Max McGrew made a beautiful pass to senior Noah Reider who scored to make it 2 to 0. Then with 9:48 left in the 1st half, senior Craig Jones passed to Ante who scored to make it 3 to 0 at the half.

The 2nd half was scoreless until Waterloo scored with 1:50 left in the game to ruin the shutout. Garfield took 17 shots to Waterloo's five. Senior Nick Crawford made four saves in goal. Garfield had a 6 to 2 advantage on corner kicks.

Garfield is also the 2013 PTC Champions after winning the league for the first time in school history last fall with a 9-1 league record and 14-1-1 regular season record.
